Why Follow a Low Carb Diet?

When I first heard of low carb diets, I avoided them. How could something that almost completely eliminated food groups out of a diet be good for someone? But my body is one that stubbornly holds onto extra fat, no matter what I try. Eventually, in desperation, I gave in and decided to give a closer look at keto diets. I was surprised to find out that low carb eating actually combatted a lot of issues I was facing.

  • It can reduce your appetite by suppressing ghrelin, an appetite stimulating hormone.
  • It also reduces inflammation by producing ketones, including a strong anti-inflammatory chemical called BHB.
  • It reduces blood sugar levels, allowing insulin levels to lower.
  • A low carb diet also reduces high blood pressure.
  • It reduces the severity and frequency of migraines, possibly due in part to the anti-inflammatory benefits of the diet.
  • And it helps fight heart disease by improving the biomarkers associated with it.

What Is Personal Trainer Food?

When I started the keto diet last year, I was surprised to experience so many additional benefits besides my 25 pound weight loss. I experience a huge reduction in the number of migraine headaches I had, and the swelling I often had in my ankles and lower legs went down, too. After six months of keto eating, I was able to transition back to regular eating, but by consuming lower carbs than I had prior to keto.

But I overindulged around the holidays, and I needed to drop some pounds to fit into my jeans again. I knew I had success with keto, but I also knew that keto is a huge commitment. It takes a lot of time to plan, prep, and cook for that type of lifestyle. And I was weary even thinking about it.

But luckily, I found out about Personal Trainer Food, the meal delivery service for low-carb eating. They take all the hard work out of eating low carb so you can enjoy the many benefits without the work! Foods that you choose are delivered frozen to your door, and they take two minutes or less to heat. I couldn’t wait to try them out!

Is the Food Good?

Yes! I can’t say enough about it!

When my food selections were delivered, they came with a handy card listing foods that promote weight loss (including foods and drinks that you can consume in unlimited amounts) and foods that stall weight loss. During the first week, I stuck to eating strictly what I was given by Personal Trainer Food.

But by the second week I was feeling more comfortable with my new eating style and I began incorporating foods from the “Promotes Weight Loss” list. For instance, in the photo below, I began with their Beef and Lamb Gyro Meat, combined it with their Yellow Squash, then added cucumber, red onion, feta cheese, and kalamata olive slices. I topped with with a bit of dill for a delicious Greek-inspired bowl!

Not only was it fun, but I also gained a better understanding of what I could and couldn’t eat, and which foods I could enjoy more of. I didn’t eat out while on the Personal Trainer Food plan, but if I had it would have been easier to make food choices with my handy little card!

Does Personal Trainer Food Work?

Yes! As long as you follow the rules, you’re going to achieve results. Luckily, there aren’t many!

The first rule is that you cannot cheat. A low carb eating plan is different than other diets. Since weight loss is achieved by the chemical reactions taking place when the body doesn’t have enough carbohydrates and sugars for a few days, ingesting those things will cause your body to reset itself back to “normal.” What this means is that you’ll have to go through the process of achieving ketosis all over again.

The second rule is that you should take a walk for about 20 minutes every day. This will maximize your results. This is not a good time to start new, heavy workouts, train for a marathon, or start a boot camp exercise program. A simple but sustainable walking program is more beneficial.

The final rule is to pay attention to all your results, not just weight loss. Notice how you feel, your energy level, how well you’re sleeping, and how your clothes fit. These are all benefits you may experience by eating a low carb diet, and they are as important to your progress as weight loss.

I enjoyed Personal Trainer Food for two weeks and followed all the rules perfectly. I also started the day before with a clear liquid fast, which was recommending for best results.

In that two weeks, I lost a total of 12 pounds and 11 inches! I was totally blown away by how easy it was! And what’s more, now I’m continuing to eat low carb on my own. I am inspired and willing to take time to plan my meals, and I’ll gradually add healthy carbs back into my diet as outlined in the handy little card that we talked about earlier.

  1. I’ve heard great things about keto diets!

  2. Sounds like a great meal delivery program for you! I’m vegan so I have to go a different route but it works well for me.

    • I definitely wouldn’t recommend this program to anyone following a vegetarian or vegan eating plan since it incorporates so many animal-based proteins. Our bodies are all so different. It’s so nice to finally find a way of eating that helps us to feel our very best!
