What Is Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating?
Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating provides fresh, healthy, chef-prepared meals that help ordinary people meet their health goals. Their philosophy is based on the science of eating right, including correct portion sizes, high quality ingredients, and plenty of variety to give each customer the right amount of calories and nutrients to fit their personal needs every day.
Since meals are prepared fresh, they are picked up or delivered twice each week. Each meal is labeled with the name of the dish, the meal during which it should be served, a calorie count, an expiration date, a list of ingredients, and directions for heating and serving. Most meals need refrigeration, so it’s best to clear some space in your fridge before you receive your first order.
Seattle Sutton’s offers individualized nutrition support to all their clients, absolutely free of charge. Their registered dieticians are happy to speak to you to determine how many calories you need each day, to suggest snacks that support your health goals, to coach you through eating out or eating during the holidays, and so much more! This company WANTS you to succeed. They are happy to help you whether you’re on Day 1 or Day 100 of your new eating plan.
How Do These Meals Help Me Lose Weight?
The biggest factor that helps you lose (or gain) weight through Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating is the calorie count. When you consume less calories than your body uses throughout the day, your body converts fat stores into energy. Over time, this helps you lose weight.
Calorie counting can be tedious, especially if you cook your own meals at home. I know I’ve tried it before and have given up each time because it takes so long to research the calorie count of each ingredient used in a recipe. Seattle Sutton’s meal plans make it easy because they do the hard work for you.
Three plans are offered based on calories per day: 1200 calories, 1500 calories, and 2000 calories. Choosing a plan that is right for you allows you to consume the correct number of calories each day without the hassle of counting calories.
Which Plan is Right for Me?
From the Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating Website…
The right meal plan for you depends on how many calories you need per day to reach your goals. It is impacted by your age, size, activity level, and more. Our dietitians would be happy to calculate a goal for you. Feel free to email them your age, height, weight, activity level, and weight goals (lose, maintain, gain) at dietitians@sshe.com for an individualized recommendation for the right calorie plan for you.
That’s what I did! I set up an appointment to speak to a nutritionist by phone. I spoke with Miranda, who asked me questions about my health goals and my lifestyle. Based on that, she calculated that I should eat about 1450 calories per day to lose weight.
Miranda recommended the 1200 plan, plus 2 glasses of milk per day and 2 snacks. She was blissfully patient and answered all my questions. To make things a little easier, she even transferred me to customer care so I could set up an account and place my first order in time to begin the following week.
These healthy meals are ideal for more than just people who are looking to change their weight. The meal plan is a great fit for conditions like
- Diabetes
- Heart disease
- High cholesterol
- Kidney disease
- High blood pressure
- Diverticulitis
- And more!
How Do I Store and Prepare the Food?
Storage is really easy. Every meal is self-contained in an environmentally-friendly GO-GREEN meal tray that is fully recyclable. Meals should be stored in the refrigerator until you’re ready to prepare them. I organized mine in stacks for each day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner and placed them in order on two shelves in my fridge. You can also freeze any meals that don’t contain fresh fruits or vegetables, but they are meant to enjoy fresh.
Preparation is also a cinch! Directions are printed on each label as every meal is a little bit different. Some meals are ready as-is, like sandwiches and salads. Others need to be warmed. Most hot dishes only need to be microwaved for a couple of minutes, but I also liked using my air-fryer to heat things like pizza and frittata. (YES, it’s a meal plan with PIZZA! I was in love!)
The meals are easily portable and can be eaten on-the-go. I had to spend a full 8 hours at my kids’ school on a weekend, so I brought along my Seattle Sutton’s breakfast and lunch to eat while I was away. This does require a little planning ahead–as I unpacked my meals I took notice of the ones that didn’t have to be heated and set them aside in case I needed to eat in the car or away from home. It worked out really well!
What is the Food Like?
The biggest surprise about Seattle Sutton meals is how delicious they are. I guess I expected it to taste…well, like most healthy food tastes. You know what I mean, right?
But from the first meal I tried, the food blew me away. It was so tasty, it felt like I had a personal chef preparing meals for me and slipping them into my fridge!
And the variety was unbelievable! When I cook for my family, we tend to have the same meals a lot. But during my six weeks on Seattle Sutton’s plan, I never had the same meal twice–not even for breakfast! I was even able to enjoy the flavors of the season on my meal plan.
Serving sizes were big enough to fill me, and I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything like I did when I was on the keto diet. In fact, I feel like I enjoyed the Healthy Eating meals more than my own cooking!
