What Are Boozy Shakes?
Remember how fun it was to enjoy a whipped cream-topped milkshake as a kid? Boozy shakes bring back the childlike delight in a creamy, frosting milkshake, but add the kick of favorite liquors. Kahlua, Bailey’s, and rum are very popular in boozy shakes, but you can also find shakes offering more unique combinations, such as prosecco in a strawberry shake.
My Boozy Chocolate Peanut Butter Milkshake was inspired by the dessert taste of Cleveland Whiskey’s Magic Rabbit. I was generously gifted a bottle to try and quite frankly, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I mean I don’t typically think of whiskey and peanut butter cups together. But after one sip, I was shocked that no one was talking about how delicious this was!
I immediately thought about how delicious Magic Rabbit would be in creamy cocktails, and decided to start with a milkshake. And in this peanut butter and chocolate loving house, it’s a new favorite!
What Kind of Whiskey Do You Recommend?
While you can use any type of whisky, I highly recommend Magic Rabbit Chocolate Peanut Butter Whiskey by Cleveland Whiskey. They have perfected the sweet taste of chocolate peanut butter in whiskey form, and offer the smoothest, most flavorful dessert whiskey that I have experienced.
Magic Rabbit is currently only found in retail stores in some states, but it is available online through two partners sites. You can also join the Magic Rabbit Fan Club to be informed of tastings, events, and recipes using this fantastic chocolate peanut butter whiskey.
Can I Make These Shakes Ahead?
You can, but I highly recommend making them when you want to serve them. Freezing them after they are made changes the texture, making the shakes more icy than creamy.
If you do have to make them ahead, pour the shakes into glasses and place in the freezer. Remove them 15 minutes before serving to thaw. You may need to add some milk or cream to improve the texture.
Garnish with whipped cream and chopped candy before serving.
