For the Tea-Loving Mom
Have you heard of Tea Drops?
On the surface, this company creates the cutest little tea capsules you’ve ever seen. Organic ground tea is pressed into fun shapes that allow you to enjoy a cup of tea without the waste of traditional teabags or the mess of loose tea. Instead, the entire tea drop dissolves into your cup, giving you a delicious, fiber-rich cup of tea.
I love their products, but the real reason that I love Tea Drops is the big heart of the company. Their teas are organic, fair trade, kosher certified, American made products created by a woman-owned and woman-led company. They give back to the world by donating a year’s supply of clean water through Thirst Project. Through that organization, Tea Drops has built four wells and supplied clean water to over 140,000 people. And they’re still going.
Read more about Tea Drops’ story here.
If your mom loves tea, we suggest introducing her to Tea Drops with the Deluxe Tea Assortment Sampler, $35. This sample pack comes with 25 individually wrapped tea drops in their five most popular varieties: Citrus Ginger, Rose Earl Grey, Sweet Peppermint, Matcha Green Tea, and Blueberry Acai White. The tea drops come packaged in a slide-top keepsake wooden box. At this time, Tea Drops is offering free 1 – 2 day shipping on this item, too!
Right now, purchases over $30 qualify for a free reusable straw if you use the code STRAW30 at checkout. We won’t tell if you decide to keep it for yourself.
If you’re shopping at the last minute, don’t despair! Tea Drops is offering free 1 – 2 day shipping on several gift items, including the Deluxe Tea Assortment Sampler as we described above, the Ultimate Tea Sampler ($19), the Tea Sampler and Mug Kit ($28), and the Boba Bubble Deluxe Tea Kit ($48).
For the Baker Mom
There’s nothing like Mom’s homemade apple pie! Why not indulge her baker side with high-quality spices that make baked goods even tastier?
Savory Spice is a husband-and-wife run company that started in 2004 with a little spice shop tucked away in Denver, Colorado. After the quick success of their business, they opened an online store and found that people all over were eager to try their unique spice blends. They opened a second shop, then a third. Now there are over 30 locations in 15 states, plus consumers everywhere can order Savory Spice blends online.
Our favorite product is the Knead to Bake Spice Set ($29.95). This must-have gift set includes 4- 4oz jars of spices that are must-haves in everyday baking: Ground Ginger, Mexican Cocoa, Pie Spice, and Ground Supreme Saigon Cinnamon. Each jar is so fragrant, and the flavors are so rich you’ll wonder how you ever baked without them!
Savory Spice also has a quarterly seasonal subscription box ($130/year) that’s a fantastic gift for Mom to enjoy all year long. Every three months, a new box is shipped (for free) that reflects the flavors of the season. Each box includes four full-sized items and one sample of spices that are dairy, wheat, soy, and nut free. Subscription spices are also vegetarian and vegan-friendly.
Currently, Savory Spice is offering free shipping on orders of $59 and more. If you live near a Savory Spice shop, you can save on shipping and pick your order up at a location near you.
Lastly, don’t neglect to sign Mom up for Savory Spice’s Loyalty Club. It’s free, and it’ll give her special perks, like spending $100 to get $10 in free products and even receiving a free birthday gift. Your mom will also love checking out the recipes on their website to get plenty of ways to use her new Mother’s Day spices!
For the Vegetable Gardening Mom
If your mom loves to garden, you’ll know that, to her, there’s nothing as exciting as growing her own produce. But that’s a hobby that most moms can only enjoy during a few months of the year…until now.
The Click and Grow company was founded in Estonia in 2009 by current CEO Mattias Lepp. Having grown up surrounded by nature in a rural area, he struggled with depression once he moved into a city. After reading an article about NASA’s plans to grow plants in space, Lepp realized that if NASA could do that, he could grow plants in small, urban dwellings. Thus, the Click and Grow company was born with a mission to bridge the gap between modern man and nature, bringing the therapeutic benefits of being around plants into your home. You can read more about the surprising ways that indoor plants benefit us here.
Click and Grow produces hydroponic gardening systems ($99.95 to $2,499.95) that give plants the perfect proportion of light and water. That technology, coupled with seed pods containing the best soil and fertilizer for each plant, allows gardeners to grow flowers, herbs, and vegetables in their homes year-round. The best way to describe the system to to envision a Keurig machine. Instead of using a K-cup to get coffee, you’re using a little pod of soil and seeds to grow a plant.
Read how easy it is to set up the Smart Garden here. Spoiler Alert: It takes less than ten minutes!
We recommend the Smart Garden 9 Pro ($259.95), which has the capacity to grow 9 plants at once. It is a more sophisticated system than the original Smart Garden 9 ($.) due to the increased control over the garden lighting with a convenient app. Normally the gardens operate on a light cycle of 16 hours on, 8 hours off. The only way to deviate from the schedule is to unplug it, but by doing so you’ll need to reset the system.
The Smart Garden 9 Pro comes with a complimentary set of plant pods: 3 green lettuce, 3 basil, and 3 mini tomato. You can also purchase additional plant pods according to your preferences. There are lots to choose from, including tea blends, strawberries, peppers, flowers, and herbs. Plant pods come in sets of 3, from 3 pods to 9, and sets range in price from $9.95 to $26.95. Indoor gardening aficionados can also sign up for a plant pod subscription service, with frequencies ranging from monthly to yearly.
Click and Grow has a huge Mother’s Day Sale going on right now. If you order by May 5, 2021, you’ll get 20% off all gardening systems and 10% off all plant pods. That is such a great deal, we’re thinking about purchasing another Smart Garden for ourselves! (Shhhh…don’t tell Mom!)
For the Bacon-Loving Mom
If Mom thinks that everything is better with bacon, Bacon Frosting ($6.19), Bacon Lip Balm ($3.49), or Bacon Air Freshener ($4.99)?
Novelties aside, Bacon Freak’s bacon is no joke. They have over 40 varieties of gourmet bacon, including nitrate-free, gluten-free, uncured, and unsliced. In addition to the always-popular Hickory Smoked Bacon ($15.99), unique flavor profiles beg to be sampled, such as Maple Cinnamon ($15.99), Sun Dried Tomato ($15.99), or Sriracha Honey ($15.99).
If Mom can’t get enough lip-smacking bacon, consider purchasing her a Bacon of the Month Club subscription ($149.75/3 months and up). Each month, Mom will receive two packages of artisan bacon, each a different flavor and chosen from their most popular selections. Plus, with her first shipment, Mom will receive a complimentary t-shirt to proclaim that “Bacon Is Meat Candy” everywhere she goes.
No matter what variety you choose, Mom will love using her Mother’s Day bacon in her favorite recipes, like BBQ Bacon Stuffed Burgers and Meat Lovers’ Frittata. Or maybe she’ll just eat it the fun way–fresh and hot off the skillet!
For the Mom Who Plays With Her Food
Is your mom the type who considers cooking to be an art form? She’s going to love this Cuisine Molecular Gastronomy kit ($65) from Uncommon Goods!
It wasn’t until cooking shows like Top Chef became popular that the term molecular gastronomy became known. This scientific discipline explores the process of food transformation when cooking. Molecular gastronomy led to progressive cuisine (or molecular cooking), in which chefs use techniques and tools developed by molecular gastronomy researchers to produce unusual, unique cuisine experiences.
This fun little cuisine kit is kind of like a cross between Julia Child and Marie Curie. By following the step by step instructions, your mother will be introduced to the most popular molecular gastronomic techniques of spherification, gelification, and emulsification. She can then apply those techniques to common household foods to create exciting new creations like strawberry foam, balsamic vinegar pearls, or spherical tzatziki.
The kit comes with a recipe book that contains over 50 creations with step-by step instructions. (There is also a refill kit that does not contain the book–ensure that you order the correct one!) It also comes with all the equipment Mom will need to go on her gastronomic adventure: 20 additives (5 packets each of calcium lactate, sodium alginate, soy lecithin, and agar agar), 3 pipettes, a slotted spoon, a measuring spoon, a silicone mold, a food syringe, and 2 silicone tubes.
With this molecular gastronomy kit, your mom is on her way to becoming the next Wylie Dufresne!

I love all of these gift ideas. They’re perfect for whoever the foodie is in anyone’s life. The best parts about the gifts are that they are unique and small businesses. I know people that would love each of these items so for the next birthday or Christmas I might buy them on of these items.
Thanks! I love finding unique gifts that so many people can enjoy. And when I find great gifts from small businesses, that’s even better!
These are great ideas! I do love TeaDrops and I would have loved to get any of the other gifts you mentioned here.
I love the interesting flavors that the tea drops come in. There’s always something new to try, too!
The click and go company is a great idea!
I really, really love their garden systems. It’s SO nice to be able to grow something successfully!
Very cool gifts for anytime of year! Those tea cups would make a great gift–so cute!
I love how the tea drops have zero waste. I low key want a glass teacup so I can watch the drop disappear as I stir it!
I’d be happy with any of these gifts. I especially love the tea! Maybe I should forward this list to my kids as a hint.
I hope forwarding it to your kids works better than it did for me! ha ha ha
Love the unique sets, will have to look into those for next year. Especially love the play with the food set.
Thanks! They’re definitely not they same old gifts!
I absolutely love these ideas, especially the teas. All those flavors sound delicious. Although it’s too late for Mother’s Day, I will certainly keep them in mind for future gift giving.
The teas are so good! And you’re right–these items make good gifts for other occasions, too.
Thank you for these great gift ideas.
Of course! I’m glad you found them useful!
Great ideas! I want to try the Tea Drops!
You’ll love them, Cindy! Some of the more popular drops sell out quickly, so you might have to check back a few times.
Great gift ideas!
Thank you! I have to say that I love each and every one!
I’ve never heard of tea drops! What a great idea…now that’s one that I’d try!
They’re like magic! You drop them in, they dissolve, and you’re left with a delicious cuppa. I love the no-waste aspect!
What a unique list! I would love to try the countertop gardening grower kit!
You have an amazing green thumb that I envy quite a bit, but even so you might be impressed with how quickly things sprout. The lights amaze me–plants that I’ve set near my system have started growing like crazy! You can also buy pre-fertilized pods with no seeds, so you could use your own seeds and see how they do. I’d be interested to hear what you think since you are a fantastic gardener to begin with.
I love the Tea Drops gift and the indoor vegetable garden. What great gift ideas for mom!
Those companies are two of my favorites. They’re eco-conscious and focus on creating quality products. I love that!
These are definitely thoughtful and unique gift ideas for Mother’s Day! I know a few moms in my life who would love the teas!
I can’t get over how fun the teas are–and there’s no waste, no grit, no stray leaves in my teeth!
I love how the tea drops have no waste, no grit, and no leaves that get stuck in my teeth, lol!
Wow! I love these pointers. My favorite is the click and grow company, how awesome!
I love that company, too. I have the Click and Grow 9 and I have fresh lettuce all the time now!
I’ll have to see if my siblings want to go in on that garden grower with me! My mom would love that!
Definitely! They run sales pretty often, too, so keep checking back!
Very cool! The Tea Drops are a new one for me – what a great idea!
I gave my son-in-law, who loves to cook, a molecular gastronomy kit one time, and It was quite a bit – he really enjoyed it.
I gave my husband the bartending one, thinking he’d enjoy making interesting drinks. Since it’s still in the package I think I’m going to reclaim it…
Wow, I would love something like the molecular gastronomy kit. How fun!
I felt like a mad scientist when I used it. It was kind of like me in second grade, playing with a little chemistry set, giggling over the results.
I love those Tea Drops! I used to get them before they were in adorable little shapes & clear packaging, the must have rebranded. I am going to definitely try them again now.
I know they still come in the cute shapes, but yes, the packaging is opaque now. They’re so yummy!
Oooh, I want to buy the Tea Drops for myself!
I know, right?!! I say do it! You’re a mom and you totally deserve it!
Ok… so that spice set for bakers caught my eye right away! I think my next favourite might be the click and grow! This is definitely a unique list. Love it!
I can’t say enough about my click and grow system. I’ve never been able to grow anything as well as I have since I started using it!
I was sold on the first product! I absolutely love tea and I can’t believe I have never heard of tea drops. They sound like fun. The grow kit looks super easy to use too. So many great ideas.
The teas are so tasty! They’ve got some original flavors that add to the fun, too.
These are some cute fun gift ideas! Love them!
Thanks, Lisa! I’m glad you liked them!
I really love the idea of the hydroponics now that I live in an apartment.
Gosh, yes! These systems are so good for apartments and tiny home living!
I’d have to agree that bacon is like meat candy! I don’t know about going as far as bacon air freshener, but I love the idea of experimenting with different kinds of gourmet bacon.
I really, really want to try making candied bacon one of these days. Bacon Freak’s bacon is thick so it’d be perfect for that.
I have never heard of the gastronomy kit! That sounds so intriguing and like I would spend a LOT of time in the kitchen playing!
You and me both! Playtime for home chefs!
Oh my goodness what a wonderful list of gifts for the moms out there! I always live giving food type gifts instead of jewelry and these are amazing!
Thank you! I like to give gifts that I know will be used. There’s nothing worse than giving a gift and seeing it unboxed in a garage sale a year later.
Such amazing Mother’s Day Gifts! Bacon is king in our house, Lisa loves her Bacon!!
Mmmmm…bacon. Bacon is the one huge reason I can’t go vegetarian. And yes, I’ve tried…
Those tea drops sound fun (for me!), but I know my mom would love the spices. She’s definitely “the Baker Mom”!
I wish I was the Baker Mom. I only bake a little. Luckily I have a Baker Daughter! 🙂
Great gift ideas. We just started using the iDoo hydroponic gardening system and love it. The results so far are nothing like our past attempts at starting the garden from seed. These systems grow strong plants that last!
Agreed! I think it’s the lights. I started a celery plant from the base of our leftover store-bought celery and placed it within the light of the garden. I was shocked that it started growing a new plant within a couple of days. The last time I tried (without the lights) I got one spindly little shoot that took about a month to grow.
