What is Lemon Dill Baked Salmon?

Salmon is one of the most flavorful and versatile fish that is widely available on the market today. It can be grilled, fried, smoked, poached, broiled, and more. In this recipe, the salmon is basted in a lemon butter mixture, sprinkled with dried dill, then baked in the oven until flaky.

Salmon is also one of the most healthy fishes to eat. It is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, needed by the body for optimal health. Wild salmon contains more omega-3s than farmed salmon, but it also tends to be more expensive. No matter which type you choose, you can be assured of getting about 30 grams of protein in a 5 ounce serving.

This is a delicious dinner for those on a keto diet.

What Makes This a Keto Recipe?

A keto diet consists of high fat and protein consumption with very low carbs and no sugar. This may not be the best choice for everyone since it is very restrictive, but it is the best choice for me in my weight loss journey.

I have a gluten sensitivity that causes swelling and general malaise, so I try to avoid glutenous foods. I am also a meat-lover, so eating a large amount of protein appealed to me. The more I looked at the foods that are allowed on keto, the more that eating style appealed to me. But rest assured, even though this recipe is keto-friendly, it is delicious for anyone who enjoys salmon!

Light, flaky, and healthy, this salmon makes an ideal Lenten dinner.

How Can I Vary This Recipe?

If you’re not a fan of dill, you can substitute your favorite herb or seasoning blend. My family loves this recipe with Everything Bagel Seasoning instead of dill. You can also use Italian seasoning, basil, or tarragon.

Another delicious variation of this recipe is to substitute limes for lemons, lime juice for lemon juice, and fresh cilantro for the dried dill. It pairs wonderfully with rice and black beans for a delicious Southwest dinner!

  1. I love salmon in many ways but this is one of my favorites. Love the comment at the end about Grandma saying a recipe is only a guideline lol I agree with that 100% I love to add my own twist to meals or a little bit more or less of something 🙂 Capers would’ve been nice to add to this for sure, thanks for sharing.
